There was a time when taking a photo meant something. It wasn’t about perfection or performance but about capturing a memory. A snapshot of real life, in all its messy, unfiltered beauty
I had this exact reflection a couple of years ago so I bought an extra old film camera (not a point and shoot) and I take terrible photos, but I love them. Because they are raw imperfect intimate moments that are mine. Highly recommend!
Hard relate. I got a physical photo album last year for this reason and I’ve been slowly filling it up. I’m not sure where you’re based but Free Prints is good for this. I love capturing memories but get self-conscious that people will think I only want to take photos for my socials even though I hardly post on IG anymore
Thank you for the recommendation; I'm definitely going to look into free prints!
I completely agree. It's hard now with the stigma surrounding taking a photo, and I try to distance myself from it so much, but then I miss out on capturing the memories. The hard part is distinguishing which photos are performative and which are actually capturing a moment in time. I hope to be able to figure it out, as I hate the distance I've created between me and taking a photo

I really feel the same way about my “old” mate photoshooting… But the question is What do you put instead?
